What are the Different Types of Boats?
Posted in: Boats
For many water lovers, buying a boat seems to be one of the most cherished possessions they could ever have. This is the most important transportation that they need whenever they want to travel the waters. This is because a boat is more affordable and can easily be operated compared to ships.
Generally speaking, a boat is a type of “watercraft,” that is usually more undersized than nearly all ships. Unlike ships, boats usually have several procedures of “propulsion” such as the paddles, screws, water jets, sails, setting poles, or paddlewheels.
Boats also have supplementary “buoyancy configurations” known as “hulls.” Hulls are commonly known as the main part of the boat. They refer to the essential part in a floating craft because it supplies the “buoyancy” that prevents the boat from submerging.
Different Types of Boats
There are many types of boats available on the market. Each has its own special features and functions. It is imperative that you know what you need in a boat for you to clearly define the type of boat that you require. It doesn't necessarily mean that you have to acquire any type of boat that you can obtain as long as it can get you into the water.
So for a clear definition of the matter, here is a list of some of the commonly used boats on the water:
1. Catamaran
This refers to a special kind of boat that has double hulls. This means that it has two central concepts thereby providing this type of boat more reliable buoyancy. You can be sure that it has lesser chances of sinking.
2. Houseboat
Just like a house, a houseboat has kitchen facilities, sleeping sections, and a toilet and bathroom. This type of boat is usually used for an overnight stay in the waters. Due to its facilities and features, a houseboat is appropriate for vacation or holiday cruising or for lodging.
Generally, houseboats are mechanically operated.
3. Motorboat
This refers to one type of boat that is being operated or driven by an inner “combustion engine” that maneuvers a propeller. In other words, any type of boat being operated by “machinery” is known as a motorboat.
One great example of a motorboat is a speedboat.
These are just a few of the many classification of boats. To get the best performance, you should know what you really need, and from there you will be able to obtain the best suitable boat built to match your needs.
